In contrast, Iowa is one of the most altered states in the nation because of our large agricultural industry. Iowans have limited opportunities to have contact with nature areas. Cell phones, computer games, television and our hectic lives also keep us on the move and disconnected from our natural world. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Marion County Conservation Board, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Central College have partnered together to develop the Cordova Center on the Rock at Lake Red Rock. This project will educate visitors on environmental stewardship and build support for Iowa’s land and water resources.
