  • The Pleasantville Chamber of Commerce will host a day of celebration to honor a former resident and nationally recognized ornithologist, Gladys Black and her legacy she left for us.

    The Chamber has partnered with multiple local, state, private organizations including, SOAR, writers and authors, nature photographers, State of Iowa DNR members and the U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers. Some of the activities planned will include presentations and discussions about the life and legacy of Gladys Black, birds, wildlife, conservation and protecting our natural environment. There will be educational opportunities for people of all ages, including crafts and scavenger hunts for kids through high school.
