  • Healthiest State Walk

  • Pella
  • Central College and Pella Corp Sponsor Healthiest State Walk

Pella residents are invited to participate in the 1-mile Central College and Pella Corp Walk. This is part of a larger program called the Healthiest State Initiative, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to making Iowa the healthiest state in the nation. In 2011, the Healthiest State Initiative began their effort with the Start Somewhere Walk. Now, six years later, they continue to celebrate progress towards engaging and encouraging Iowans to join the cause by walking every October in the Healthiest State Annual Walk.

This year’s walk will be held on the Central College campus with the starting location at the Maytag Student Center on Wednesday, October 4 at 12pm.  The 1-mile route will take walkers around and through the campus.

For those not able to participate in the mid-day walk, an evening walk, also on October 4, will also be held on Schipper Stadium outdoor track.  Following the Community Common Reading Experience presentation by Aaron Thomas (7pm, H.S. Kuyper Fieldhouse), the track will be available to walk between 8:15-9:30pm.  The presentation and both walks are free and open to the public.

The Pella Hy-Vee has donated four $25 gift cards for each walk.  Walk participants will have the opportunity to register for these drawings.
