Come out and join us for some of these fun programs:

Let’s Go Paddling!
Friday, July 29—6-8 p.m.—Robert’s Creek East Boat Ramp  (Location may change due to lake/weather conditions...call the Corps office for more information.)
Here you will have the chance to experience both canoeing and kayaking in the same day!  Give one or both a try and see how much fun paddling can be!  You must be at least 10 years old  to use kayaks.  Life jackets will be provided.

Geocaching 101
Saturday, July 30—10:00 a.m.—Whitebreast Campground
You’re never too old for hide-and-seek!  Have some fun and give geocaching a try! This sport uses the technology of GPS (Global Positioning Systems) to hunt for caches hidden in the area.  Bring your own GPS or borrow one from us for the activity.  Learn some of the basics and then try it on your own wherever you travel!

Pond Exploration
Saturday, July 30—1:30 p.m.—South Tailwater Recreation Area (meet near the picnic shelter)
Let’s go “mucking” at one of the lakes area’s wetlands!  Dip nets and tubs will be available for you to try and catch some of the critters swimming and crawling in and around the area! Mucking can be messy, so please wear old shoes and clothes.

Creatures of the Night Hike
Saturday, July 30—9:00 p.m.—Howell Station Campground  (meet at the trail entrance across from the Keokuk Village camping loop)
Hike along a woodland trail in search of the night shift.  Follow the tracks left behind by critters of the night and listen for owl calls and other lurking creatures!

Chalk Art on the Trail
Sunday, July 31—10:00 a.m.—Howell Station Campground  (meet at the Volksweg Trail near the turnaround at the end of the campground entrance road)
Show off your creative side! Artists of all ages are invited to join us to create themed chalk art drawings on the Volksweg Trail.  Bring your ideas and we’ll bring the chalk!

Church Services
North Overlook Picnic Area—9:30 a.m. Sunday
Coal Ridge Church (near Whitebreast Rec. Area)—11:00 a.m. Sunday
Non-Denominational Church Services are held every Sunday from Memorial Day through Labor Day  at these locations.  Everyone is welcome!
