Sprint Car Capital of the World...

Digging out and counting down.

02-07-2011

In The News

As the eyes of the motorsports world turn toward sunny Daytona Beach, Florida, those in the “Sprint Car Capital of the World” are digging out from last night’s blizzard and counting down the days until ‘Practice Night’ at Knoxville Raceway on Saturday, April 23.  National Sprint Car Museum executive director Bob Baker said today, “We received eight inches of snow last night on the Marion County Fairgrounds here in Knoxville, but we’re inside working today and preparing for the track’s ‘Season Opener’ on Saturday, April 30.  Our biggest days of the year for museum attendance are race days in Knoxville, Iowa.”

The 35-night weekly racing season at the Marion County Fairgrounds half-mile dirt oval, which begins on April 30 and extends through October 1, is highlighted by the following special events:

June 10-11, World of Outlaws (WoO) Mediacom Shootout,

July 5 & 26, Harris Clash for IMCA Modifieds & Late Models,

August 4-6, ASCS Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals,

August 7, USAC Non-Winged Knoxville Nationals,

August 10-13, WoO Goodyear 410 Knoxville Nationals,

September 9-10, AMA Pro Flat-Track Grand National Series for Motorcycles,

Sept. 29-October 1, Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals.

Those individuals interested in visiting the museum or watching races from the second-floor clubhouse and/or third- and fourth-floor suites above the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum are urged to e-mail Bob Baker at bbaker@sprintcarhof.com or call him toll-free at 1-800-874-4488.
